Kerry phoning (Aug. 9-12 from 6:30-9:00pm) - This coming week, August 9-12, we will be calling Democrats from the Democratic Party headquarters to make sure they are supporting John Kerry and John Edwards and to offer them the opportunity to get a bumper sticker and help with the campaign.

We can use your help for phone calling any of those days, as well as any Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday evening from 6:30pm to 9:00pm from August 30 through November 1. Just show up at Howard County Democratic headquarters anytime after 6:30pm and we'll put you on the phones! Headquarters is located at 7050 Oakland Mills Road, Suite 120, Columbia 21046 (for directions, go to www.howardforkerry.com/aboutus or call 410-290-9791).

Howard County Fair Parade (Aug. 13 at 6:00pm) - We need Democratic supporters to join us at the Howard County Fair! We are marching for Kerry and other Democrats in the Fair Parade on Friday, August 13. Just come to the fair, at the Howard County Fairgrounds and meet us at the Democratic booth at 6:00pm. We''ll provide the buttons, signs and other campaign stuff to dress you up for marching for the Kerry/Edwards team.

FYI - There is a $4.00 fee to enter the Fair for all those 10 years and older. Fairgrounds are located at 2210 Fairgrounds Road,West Friendship, Maryland. (From Interstate 70: Take Exit 80, Route 32 South. Turn right onto Route 144 West. Go 1/2 mile, turn right onto Fairgrounds Road. From the South: Take 32 West (later a sign change into 32 North) to West Friendship. Turn left onto Route 144 West. Go 1/2 mile, turn right onto Fairgrounds Road. )

Students for Kerry (Aug. 25 at 9:30am) - High school students in Howard County are organizing Young Democrats clubs in their high schools. We had a very successful first meeting and are planning our next meeting for Wednesday, August 25 at 9:30am at Democratic Headquarters, 7050 Oakland Mills Road, Suite 120, Columbia 21046 (for directions, go to www.howardforkerry.com/aboutus or call 410-290-9791). Any high school students or recent grads are welcome to join us! Invite any students you know that want to be involved and make a difference.

Voter Registration - New voters will make a big difference on election day. You can help by becoming a voter registrar (training is offered 5 days a week - call 410-313-2727 in Howard County to set up a time) and joining us to sign up voters at community events. Please let us know when you complete the training by e-mailing Liz Debaugh-Stone at ldebaugh@yahoo.com and we'll add you to our roster.

Cummings barbecue (Aug. 22 from 2:00-5:00pm) - Congressman Cummings invites you to a family barbecue picnic on Sunday, August 22, 2004 at Centennial Park, Pavilions A, B, and C from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm, rain or shine. Tickets are $35.00 for adults, seniors (60 and over) $17.50 and children (12 and under) free. For tickets and more information contact Paulette Jones at 410-669-8400 or at cummingsforcon@aol.com.

Howard County Democratic Central Committee Labor Day Picnic (Sept. 6 from 2:00-4:00pm) - Join Democratic elected officials and volunteers at Rockburn Park in Elkridge for picnic and fun!

Kerry Booth at Lake Elkhorn Festival (Sept.18 from 11:00am-6:00pm) - We need volunteers to help staff this booth!
